This article is for those of us who have overdone it with our hair. I am talking about over braiding, weaving, perming, dyeing, back combing, straightening and so on. This is for when your hair is showing signs that it has had enough! When your hair is limp, full of split ends, breaks easily, lost its luster and you are starting to sign bold patches; you will definitely need these products:
* Special treatment conditioner/creams: The must have product here is Elasticizer by Philip Kingsley. This product is a multiple award winning product because it's simple to use and it works! Let me just give you a brief history of the brand; Philip Kingsley. This brand has been on top of all things hair for decades now. Originally Philip Kingsley was a brand favoured by the elite, think of the Audrey Hepburn type women. Lately the brand has been marketed and more affordable prices to the general public. So with such history and credibility in mind, you can see why this is my top SOS product here. This product is best for anyone wanting to bring back life to their hair so limp, damaged (colour/chemical), dull hair works best with this product.
Elasticizer works for all hair types from Afro-Caribbean, Caucasian to Asian and everything in between, which makes it very versatile and appealing. In fact, it has been shown to specifically give exceptional results on Afro-Caribbean hair. Elasticizer usually comes in a large tab, dispenser is easy just push the top and the creamy white substance comes out. To use it simply wet hair with your fingers so that it is damp not soaking wet, then apply the cream concentrating on ends and working upwards. Wrap your head and leave it for 20 minutes but for an even deeper conditioning leave it overnight. You can wear a heat cap with this if you wish, heat does make it work even better but it is not necessary. Wash it out thoroughly and use a shampoo & conditioner before drying and styling. If you have left it overnight then shampoo twice to make sure no excess remains.
Elasticizer is gentle on the scalp so no issues with sensitive skin. It also doesn't have any odour but there are new versions of this currently, which have been formulated with a scent e.g., Coconut scented Elasticizer. If you prefer a fresh scent then these new versions will suit you better but remember there is no difference in terms of the effectiveness of the cream scented or not.
It might be that compared to some specialised conditioner/creams Elasticizer is slightly high priced but the difference is that you don't need much to see the incredible results and it actually works!
*Hair loss/Edges rescue: If you are seeing bold patches especially at the front hair line due to excessive braiding/weaving or chemical dyeing or old age or even pulling hair back too much then this next product is for you. Ladies (and gents) let me introduce you to another rescue product in the form of Hairfix specifically Hairfix Follicle rescue. This product is easy to use and works very well in promoting regrowth of hair. It is easy to use in that all you need to do is apply a small (pea shaped) amount on your hand and rub than on the scalp of the bold patches. Please remember you have to rub the product on the actual scalp/bold patches and not the hair. You do this three times a week and no more! Leave the product in or shampoo it out the next day, in any case there won't be anything to shampoo out as it is absorbed into the scalp. It also contains caffeine and anti-aging compounds so promotes regrowth of healthy hair.
Again like Elasticizer original, Fairfax Follicle rescue does not have any scent and is formulated to work even with the most sensitive skin as well as works with all hair types. Everyone and anyone can use this however, if you don't actually have any hair to begin with i.e., you are in fact bold then this won't work. It only works to regrow and strength follicle of hair that is already present even if the hair it self has broken off.
*Shampoo & Conditioner: Here you have a wide range to choose from because most reputable brands offer various shampoos & conditioners targeting specific issues with hair. I would recommend that if you have a specific brand you already favour then stick with that. The products above can work with any other branded products so you don't have to worry that you need to stop using your favourite shampoo or conditioner because you are trying out Elasticizer or Hairfix.
If however you don't have any favourites so far and are open for new suggestions then I suggest you use Philip Kingsley's shampoo and conditioner with your Elasticizer and incorporate Hairfix three times a week in your routine. Philip Kingsley brand has numerous well researched, dermatological tested products so find one that addresses you specific hair concern. It is true that marrying products from the same brand and thus similar composition can further enhance the results. However, you decide what is best for you.
Tip: I know that most budgets are tight and sometimes trying something knew can be daunting. My tip is buy from a retailer who is very competitive to ensure you get the best price. Also find one who gives you money back guarantee so that if you don't like any of the products you purchased, for whatever reason, simply return for a refund. There is one place that do both of these things and that is QVC uk, these products are in fact cheaper at qvc than on the actual brand's website. Want to try them?
